Week 7

This week reading deals mainly with Public Relation program and the importance of different stages involved within the program. The key messages for this week reading was to do with how Public relation program is important in the Management and companies. In order for manangement to be able to communicate successfully, it needs its stakeholders from stakeholders and external authorities to stuff, customers and suppliers. Public Relation Practitioner need to contribute input to the executive by providing valid information on outside opinions and on public relations issues which is likely to impact on the organisation.

Public relation practitioner role is one of the anticipation of analysis stakeholder opinions about the organisation and presenting those opinions to management to assist in strategy and planning. Also public relation practitioner role is to protect the reputation of an organisation or an individual.Target audience is one of the important major step in Public Relation programme planning. Public relation practitioner need to know who there audience are inorder for them to conduct an accurate program which has good benefits for the company and the community. The reading also went on to talk on different areas of public relation program.

The key points in the readings could be applied to my group work in that they help us identify the problem we are faced with such as the targeted audience. As to what the reading has shown targeted audience are very impotant as a way of reaching out and giving them the information that they need or to know about the organisation. This can be applied to my group and the program plan we are doing for kid safe, it is important to know the stake holders and those who can donate to kid safe.

The reading made me think more about public relation theory/practice in terms of how is the real world PR practitioner work in different organisation to help the management and being able to provide accurate programs and information to the community. It also show the fact the being a public relation involved different roles needed for organisation to survive.

The readings related to the other reading I’ve done in previous weeks in that it helps me understand more about public relation and what its functions in different organisation within the community.

Week 6

key messages from this week’s readings was public relation practitioners are seen to act like boundary raiders in that the they run around the fence as to keep the information inside the organisation without letting information licks to the public. Also the reading deals with creating and managing crisis in different organisations. In order to solve crisis, there should be a team been created to deal with this situations, the team has to have a team leader who is responsible for conforming the crisis status, allocating resources, setting priorities and selecting and briefing the spokesperson. There are also others roles that are involved in the crisis management such as corporate affairs and media, duties and task, Human resources and family, Emergency and security, Operation, Command centre and call out, administration and recovery.

Campbell, 2004 states that in order to manage a crisis the team has to be assembled properly and issue different roles to those people who are involved in order for everyone to know what they are doing. The organisations also have to establish a crisis centre to operate as a focal point for reporting the crisis status. Internet play a part in the crisis management as it offer organisation the opportunity to communicate their messages without media imposed filters. Through the internet the organisation can monitor the current news and being able to send media release outside.

The readings were more helpful in my group as it help us to deal with the current situation that the kid’s safe was facing at the moment. It provided information on how to deal with the current situation as to what kid’s safe is facing at the moment with lack of funds. At the moment kids safe is shorted of funds to build there new education centre and with help of crisis management help us to identify the main problem and deal with it. Crisis have five stages which are detection, Preparation, containment, Recovery stages and evaluation, with this stages we are able to solve the problem.

The readings made me think more on how Public relation practitioners plays a major role in solving crisis that companies or organisation face everyday in life. It shows the courage it requires for PR to be able to answer question at the day of the crisis. It made me to think more on the work place and how PR runs in certain organisations. It also shows the important of internet and how it can be used as a communication tool to solve problems quickly.

Week 5

I believe the key messages from this week’s readings were to see how organisations achieve there goals. Grunig 2006 states that organisation sets goals through interaction with its strategic constituencies. This means that in order for organisation to set goals need to have a strategy in order to be successful. The reading shows how Public relation plays a great part on such organisation as by helping to identify stakeholders and segments different publics from within those stakeholders. Public relation uses different communication skills in order to identify these stakeholders without the organisation wasting more time in looking for the stakeholders. Also from the lecture we learned that Public Relation practitioner need to constant monitor the condition and adapt strategies and tactics in order to keep the relationship flourishing.

The reading were more important regarding to my group work in that for young PR practitioner we need to learn and identify who our stakeholders are on our organisation. Being able to scan the environment, constructing scenarios and building relationship are the key roles of PR in strategic management.

The readings made me think more about public relations theory/practice in that PR practitioner need to understand our environment and what is involve in it. Made me think that PR practitioners don’t just sit down and deal with crises that appears in front of them but to think and know how to solve a problem immediately. Just as the way Gruing 2006 said that once identified as a “public” the PR practitioner can monitor that public’s opinions through looking at websites, media and outputs such as reports and media releases

The readings related to the other reading I’ve done in previous weeks in that we as a public Relation practitioners need to monitor the media as much as possible and know our environment. Knowing what is going in our publics is very important through news, internet, print media and other source of media that produce news. This week reading has helped both my group “kid’s safe” to shows us how important to identify the right stakeholders for the organisation with scanning the environment and constructing the scenarios.

Week 4

I believe the key messages from this week’s readings were to do with the issue of Framing. Framing is one of the important parts of the both the media relation and the public relation. The way news media frame a particular story can be different from the way the print media frame there’s. According to the reading from Stanton (2007) states that in order for framing to be successful it needs to have a strategy (design), image (story) and ground (foreground). Framing defines how an element of rhetoric is packaged so as to allow certain interpretations and rule out others. Another key messages found from the reading was that in order for framing to be successful it needs to work through a theme of either an issue or an event. Frames also have four side such as (1) define problems (2)diagnose Causes (3) Make moral (ethical) judgements and last one suggest remedies.

The key points in the readings could be applied to my group’s work in that they give a clear understanding on how framing works and what is needed to solve the problem or issue. It also helps the group to realise there are different organisations out there who need to be consider in the Public Relations in order for us to send the message. So Kid’ safe Hunter can be classified as more to do with safety of children’s but also can be framed in a different way such it is an educational tool for both the children and adults for safety.

The readings made me think more about public relations theory/practice in that it is very important for a public relation practitioner to frame news story in different ways that suit for both the public and the readers.

Week 3

Strategy and Public relations

I believe the key message for this week reading were to show the importance of strategy and public relation in an organisation.Public relation role is to serve its organisaton as well as the public that affect that particular organisation. In order for a company or an organisation to be successful it need to have a strategy. Then the word stategy means a plan, method or a way of reaching an overall goal.Public manangers use both knowledge and experience with the addition of ability to do strategic planning and good judgement to solve problems for the organisation in the new two- way communication model.The public relation manangers is to solve problems faces by a particular organisation.

The key points in the reading could be applied to my group work in that they help us to identify the strategy of an organisation.Also help us to abide to those three categories such as strategic thinking, solving problems both internally and externally and also using sound judgement. Also the reading helps my group in searching for relevent information in the internet and to look for particular articles relating to the subject.especially about the workshop on using the internet for researching, i find it very helpful on search for the relevant information.

The reading made me think more about public relation theory/practice in that it enable me to understand public relation in a clear way such as to how public relation works and the role it plays in different organisations.Since public relation use two- way communication to provide knowledge and create mutual understanding between an organisation and its public then strategy plays an important role in public relation organisation and helps both the public relation officer and organisation to solves problems.

The reading related to other reading i' ve done previous weeks in that it helps build my understanding of what public relation really is and how public relaton play a role in the work force.

Week 2

Public relation role must oparate within the decision-making dominant coalition of the organisation.I believe the major key point for this week reading was to show how Public Relation practitioner use group in their everyday work place.As a public relation practioner one need to know how import a group can be in order to produce a good work at the end of the day.

According to Connery stated that in order for a group to work successfully, it need to have two way comunication that is a group leader has to know what the group is doing and at the sametime the group has to communication with the leader so that the group can be successful.Inorder to have a good group, the group has to be considerate, support the ideas of other people, be aware of other people feelings and to accept that others are imperfect too.

The article has helped me to understand more of what the group is all about in the public relation indrustry and what need to be done in order to have a good group.I have been in a group before but did not know why sometimes the group always collapse.being able to deal with problems in the group can be one of the strategy needed for a group to be effective and succeful.
Also the article has helped me to deal with PBl and have a clear understanding and how to deal with it.
